## Tatiana Sunak

Тетяна Сунак

Tatiana Sunak is a respected leader in Ukrainian education, whose decades of volunteer service have strengthened Ukrainian-language learning and ties between Canada and Ukraine. For more than 18 years, she has served as Vice Principal with the Toronto District School Board while also leading multiple Ukrainian education roles: Principal of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian School, President of the Ukrainian Canadian School Board (Toronto), and Chair of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress National Ukrainian Educational Council. From 2020 to 2022, she was also Principal of Novopecherska School in Kyiv, bringing international leadership experience back to her work. For over 15 years, Sunak has advanced Ukrainian education across Canada by developing new programs, coordinating the Let’s Speak Ukrainian textbook series, organizing national teacher conferences, and providing professional learning for educators. She collaborates with Ukraine’s Ministry of Education to help Canadian Ukrainian schools through official verification and to deepen educational partnerships. After Russia’s full-scale invasion, she became a key force supporting displaced Ukrainian families through educational workshops, newcomer initiatives, and major community events. She has led initiatives including Learning to Be, Teachers of Canada for Teachers of Ukraine, the annual NMT examinations in Canada, the Angels of Ukraine memorial, and the Pavlo Yatsyk Competitions.
