Aleksa Gobosz

Алекса Гобош

Aleksa has been involved in the Ukrainian Canadian community since a young age, singing, dancing, and playing the bandura at Ukrainian events. Her participation expanded into volunteering with Camp Sokil's Annual Ivana Kupala event, the Lemko Foundation's Nadiya Malanka, and UCC-Toronto. Through these experiences, she developed a strong appreciation for Ukrainian culture and the importance of creating welcoming spaces where people can connect and feel a sense of belonging. She recently graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and hopes to use her education to support individuals and families in the Ukrainian Canadian community through cultural programming, volunteerism, and advocacy. She presented at CYM Camp about her volunteerism at the start of the war in Ukraine, including translating for displaced families in Poland. For almost 20 years, she has been involved with Barvinok Ukrainian Dance School, supporting visual and audio coordination for the Annual Year-End Concert and other events under Artistic Director Fedir Danylak. She also teaches English at the Language House School for Ukrainian students and works with Nataliya Halych to support the newly created Ukrainian Community of Mississauga at Saint Mary's Ukrainian.
